Silk Knotted Necklaces
One of the oldest, and most diverse, of fiber techniques, knotting has been used for a variety of purposes, ranging from the recording of information to fastening objects together, as well as being used as adornment and jewelry throughout the world.
Join MAD for this afternoon-long, hands-on workshop in creating your own personal silk necklace, using contemporary approaches to this historical technique. By first constructing a simple single crochet length, then adding repurposed cut silk, knotted fringe, and other materials, students will create pieces of jewelry as one-of-a-kind as themselves.
All materials provided. No previous experience necessary.
